OzHosting.com opens second Sydney data centre
The facility is anchor tenanted by NSW Government
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – 27th March 2014 – OzHosting.com, a pioneer in Australia’s cloud hosting market, announces opening its second Sydney data centre at Silverwater, Sydney, Australia. The facility is anchor tenanted by NSW Government and is part of the company’s local strategy to launch localised cloud services.
The Silverwater based next generation facility boasts the prestigious Tier III Accreditation from the Uptime Institute. This provides OzHosting.com and the NSW Government with real certainty that the facility meets world best practice and rigorous global standards for data centres.
The new Silverwater centre utilises direct free air-cooling and modular plant systems, to deliver world-leading power utilisation efficiency. Further environmental enhancements within the facility include; on-site rain water retention and harvesting, and an intelligent site monitoring system.
With new technology, this facility offers a Power Utilisation Efficiency (PUE) of less than 1.2, compared to traditional data centres which can run in excess of 2.2.
The Silverwater Data Centre site covers more than 16,800 square metres, and when fully operational will be one of the largest independent data centres in Australia, capable of supporting up to 9MW of IT load.
OzHosting.com will launch locally based cloud offerings from the new facility; for example, Hosted PBX, Microsoft Exchange 2013, Microsoft Lync, Microsoft SharePoint and its New Parallels Cloud Infrastructure (PACI) Platform. OzHosting.com’s current customers will be migrated to give further peace of mind they are in the same secure facility as the NSW Government.
“By creating a marketplace for cloud computing services in the NSW Government endorsed data centre, both small to enterprise business including Government would reduce the legal and security risks associated with offshore providers.” said Anthony Banek, CEO, OzHosting.com
